Description

The OMG-ISO-COMM boards, available in 2 and 4 channel models, are isolated asynchronous serial communication cards that utilize balanced differential drivers and receivers to provide RS-422 and RS-485 communication. These cards are capable of providing up 500 V dc of isolation for protection against ground loop current. Distances of 5000 ft. in noisy industrial environments are easily accommodated. Signals are transmitted and received via individual 9-pin sub-D connectors. The cards are also capable of RS-232, for applications requiring shorter distances and RS-232 compatibility. The OMG-ISO-COMM cards are plug-in cards based on the 16550 FIFO buffered UART, which is compatible with the standard 8250. Bit character lengths of 5, 6, 7 or 8, and odd, even or no parity are all available. The advanced COM drivers for Windows 95/98 and NT are included, which provide IRQ sharing, advanced UART support, and Windows serial diagnostics. Windows 3.1x drivers are available for more than 4 COM ports.
